The story of Saint Rémy began in 1886 in the Loire Valley, when Paul-Émile Rémy Martin II - a descendant of the founder of the Rémy Martin cognac house - established a new distillery. Phylloxera had devastated the vineyards of Charente, and he chose the quiet village of Machecoul near Nantes to produce a high-quality brandy using the methods he had inherited. The first commercial recipe appeared in 1917 and has remained the closely guarded secret of Saint Rémy's master blenders ever since.
The brandy is crafted from carefully selected grape varieties from several French wine regions - Burgundy, Champagne, Beaujolais, Bordeaux, and Languedoc - distilled in copper columns and aged in small French oak barrels. The result is a brandy with a velvety texture and notes of vanilla, ripe fruit, and subtle spice. Saint Rémy VSOP is the brand's classic expression, while the XO represents the pinnacle of the collection - complex and deep, shaped by years of patience.
