GITANA WINERY
(4 products)Gitana Winery - Order the Finest Wines from Moldova
Gitana Winery is one of Moldova's most established and recognised wine producers, with roots going back to 1953. The winery is situated in the Valul lui Traian zone in southern Moldova - a historically significant viticultural area valued for its distinctive soil composition and favourable microclimate, ideal for producing wines of exceptional character.
After operating as a prominent state enterprise during the Soviet era, the winery entered a new chapter in 1999 when it was acquired by the Dulgher family. They undertook an extensive revitalisation: modernising the cellar infrastructure, equipping the facility with contemporary winemaking technology, and - crucially - establishing their own vineyards. From 2002, Gitana's estate plantings expanded across the villages of Romanovca and Filipeni in Leova district, with varietals carefully matched to soil types in collaboration with Moldova's National Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking.
The Gitana portfolio spans a broad range of styles and grape varieties: elegant varietals including Saperavi, Chardonnay, Fetească Regală, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Riesling de Rhein, alongside the winery's flagship blends Lupi Rezerva and La Petite Sophie - wines that have come to define Moldovan winemaking for discerning consumers both locally and abroad. In 2017, the Autograf range was launched, featuring four varietals - Fetească Regală, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot - and in 2018 Gitana Winery introduced another addition to its portfolio: three wines from the Young range - Alb, Roz și Roșu de Gitana.
Gitana Winery exports to Romania, Switzerland, Japan, China, and South Korea, affirming its standing as an ambassador of Moldovan wine on the international stage. At its core, the brand stands for a clear and consistent vision: authentic expression of local terroir, the harmonious integration of tradition and modern technique, and an unwavering commitment to quality - the legacy of a family that has dedicated itself entirely to the art of winemaking.
